How good is the County Broadband Connection?

What is the maximum speed of the network?

We offer a service up to 15Mb/sec on both the download and upload sides. This can optionally be supplied as a prioritised service on a shared network basis or as a dedicated service.

Accordingly, we can support small to medium businesses, home workers, gamers as well as regular users and provide them all with a service specifically tailored to their individual needs.

How secure is your Wireless Network?

Access to our network is only available through a registered unique MAC address and all sessions are encrypted between the user and our server base in Coggeshall.

Internet traffic must otherwise be considered as insecure unless other measures are taken and in this respect our service is no different to any other provider.

Your system uses WiFi, is there anything better?

Like every other Hi-tech venture, wireless broadband continues to evolve at a fast pace.

Developments in functionality, durability and throughput speeds are happening all the time. New standards such as “WiMAX” and “Mesh” are becoming more popular and it is our policy to evaluate all new developments and implement them as and when we believe the business case is justified.

Does your service use ADSL?

No (although we do supply ADSL solutions under certain circumstances).

ADSL is almost invariably the technology of choice for telephone lines. The speed of the broadband user’s connection decreases rapidly with distance from the telephone exchange. Users living in rural areas are worst affected.

In our mainstream business we employ a technology known as SDSL which is more suited to our wireless network infrastructure and offers greater flexibility.
